How to Open a Business Bank Account in Türkiye

The process of opening a corporate account in Türkiye is generally straightforward but requires precise documentation. Here is the step-by-step guide for 2026:

1. Required Documents

  • Tax Plate (Vergi Levhası): Your company’s official tax registration certificate.
  • Signature Circular (İmza Sirküleri): Notarized document showing authorized signatories.
  • Trade Registry Gazette (Ticaret Sicil Gazetesi): The official announcement of the company’s establishment.
  • Certificate of Activity (Faaliyet Belgesi): Obtained from the Chamber of Commerce (usually must be issued within the last 3 months).
  • ID Documents: Passports or Turkish IDs of all partners and authorized persons.
  • Proof of Address: Recent utility bills or residency certificates for the authorized signatories.

2. The Process

  1. Application: You can apply via a physical branch or through digital “Onboarding” apps.
  2. KYC (Know Your Customer): The bank reviews your documents. For foreign-owned companies, this “Compliance” check might take 1–2 weeks.
  3. Signing Agreements: You sign the Framework Banking Services Agreement. Many banks now offer digital signatures or video calls for this step.
  4. Activation: Once approved, your TL and foreign currency accounts are activated, and online banking credentials are provided.

Note for Joint Stock Companies (A.Ş.): You must deposit 25% of the initial capital into a “blockage account” during the incorporation phase.
